Welcome to Half Valve Music. I am a keen arranger, particularly of music for brass. The majority of pieces have been written for and performed by ensembles I am in or part of, and I'm keen that others can also enjoy performing these.
In my 'day job' I'm an orchestral administrator, working alongside professional musicians all the time, some of whom have performed my arrangements. I manage the orchestral library and often use my typesetting skills to ensure that music for the orchestra is clear and readable as well as considering challenges such as page turning. I bring over 20 years of experience in this to my publishing and hope that my arrangements are well laid out, leaving you to enjoy making the music.
Many arrangements can be purchased directly from this site via download. However, there are a number of works which can only be purchased via SheetMusicPlus.com or SheetMusicDirect.com. This is purely due to the licencing of copyright works which may only be sold on these platforms, however I aim to list my full catalogue here.
I have tended to arrange pieces for the ensembles I play with so instrumentation is dictated as such. I have tried in some cases to include alternative transposition parts for more common instruments, but if you need a part transposing for a different instrument (Eb horn instead of F, or Eb Bass instead of Tuba etc) then please let me know. If I don't need to re-arrange the piece to achieve it I will happily do these transpositions free of charge. Adaptions for other combinations by negotiation.
